As you all know bees are dying more and more for various reasons : infections, pesticides, asian hornets, natural death (the worth kind). In order to gather the biggest amount of informations about bees, and ease the work of bee keepers in AND out of cities, we (we are 2) got inspired from the already existing system : connected bee hives.
It is basically a scale merged with different kind of sensors (temperature, humidity, light, weight, pollution, bee counter etc...) that would be under the Bee Hive and that would send the data on a platform accessible by the beekeepers, researchers and citizens.
In term of skills it involves :
1)working with sensors, quite easy to use but we need to make them all work at once on the same board.
2)Sending the data to another device through recent technology that is not phone lines /wifi/bluetooth, this might be the hardest part.
3)dealing with battery problem, probably solar panels to link with arduino.
4)creating the platform (we may not have time for this) to show the data.
